A Girl, a Dog & an Old Car

Girl, Dog and Mini

Recently, thanks to the example and encouragement of some friends, I have ventured into developing my own negatives at home. So far I have done a few rolls of B & W, but I also have the ingredients for some C-41 (colour negative) developing, when I feel brave enough. This particular image was shot with my Diana 151 loaded with Kodak Tri-X 400. For those who like the technical details, here they are:
Camera: Diana 151     Film: Kodak Tri-X 400
Rated ISO: 400
Developer: Rodinal
Dilution: 1:50
Temp: 20ÂșC
Time: 13 min
Method: Initial agitation 55 seconds then 10 seconds every two minutes. 60 sec Stop Bath (Kodak Indicator Stop Bath). 5 minutes Ilford Rapid Fixer. Ilford Wash Technique then Kodak Fotoflow for 30 sec.

What a great photo! Congrats on developing your own film – that’s something I need to do someday as well.

Thank you Jen, it took me quite a while to get around to it, I had the tank, changing bag and lots of medium fomat B&W film for ages, it just took that extra push to get the chemicals. I’m very glad I did though, there is something very satisfying about taking your negative out of the tank after the fixer and wash to unroll it to reveal your home developed images!

  3. Great photo, welcome to the club! It is very satisfying indeed to make your own images appear from a roll of film. Do keep up the good work!
