It is now 13 days until World Toy Camera Day (that’s the reminder – more to myself than anyone else as I really do have a brain like a sieve sometimes)
Now, for the BBF update: The blackbird, fly officially went on sale in Tokyo Friday of last week (8 days ago). This little camera really is getting a lot of interest with much discussion in various forums on flickr, toycamera.com and filmwasters.com as well as mentions on sites like Trends In Japan. From eye witness reports from my friend Skorj (our man in Tokyo) from filmwasters, there was quite a bit of local interest (queues around the block) and special edition colors of the camera (Yellow, White & Brown) that sold out within ten minutes of shop opening! I have an image of the yellow edition BBF courtesy of Skorj, looks very pretty!
For those that missed my little note at the end of the previous Camera Cabaret post – there is now an online blackbird, fly camera ordering option for those outside of Japan. This is via the Megaperls website but they do warn that “Supply of this product will be scarce and incoming of stocks irregular” I also note that the price is 16,600 Japanese Yen which equates (at current exchange rates) to just over $200.00 Australian. You’ll have to do your own sums for your own countries currency. Considering the points above, you may want to wait until Superheadz gets their own online ordering system set-up.
It will also be available in a few select outlets from around the end of October, both in America and Europe, but I will try and post more specific details when they become available.
