It’s about time I updated this photoblog. I got this alarm clock at a op-shop (thrift store) years ago. It was sitting in the window calling to me. I love retro things like this, I particularly like the little Sputnik second hand that cheerfully travels around the clock face. Anyone who has watched a bizarre but clever action movie called “Crank” (starring Jason Statham) might have seen a clock just like this one make a cameo appearance!     Camera: Diana + [pinhole aperture] Film: I really don’t remember (and am way too tired to look through my negatives)

After uploading some software ‘analouge emulation’ images I thought we should get back to some actual real images (in the sense that the photo exists in tangible physical form,  either as a negative or print as compared with 0′s and 1′s of binary data storage) This particular image was captured in my brother’s study (he really does have some interesting books, objects and miscellaneous stuff). I had the Holga Pinhole Camera (with Polaroid back) on a tripod and triggered my hand held flash unit about a gazillion times (no science involved, I just kept triggering it until I thought I had ‘about enough light’ to make an image) This post is a test of the WordPress application for the android t-touch tablet I have been provided with (by Telstra) for the purpose of review. I’m running it through it’s paces and will have a full review (in video and written form) up sometime next week, for those curious.

(I repeat) I know, I know, this blog has always been traditionally analogue based (in other words, film based photographs from film cameras), but it has also traditionally (well, at least when I first conceived the idea for the blog and registered the domain name) a toy camera blog. As my photographic adventure has evolved however, I have used distinctly NON toy cameras & uploaded images from the same. In the end, the equipment a photographer uses, along with a lot of other variables, can change the look of the finished image, but the image is what it is, and it takes a certain eye to see a photograph before it is made, irrespective of what equipment is used. Quite often lately I have been snapping shots with my iPhone, using this or that app (and isn’t it interesting how many popular applications specifically emulate old fashioned toy camera and polaroid-type looking photos!). This particular image (and they are air deodoriser cans, not spray paint cans, in case you might have thought I was taking up street art!) was taken using a Telstra T-Touch tab running an Android Operating System which was sent to me by Telstra for the purpose of review (you can see/read about the unboxing here – review to follow). The application used in this instance was ‘retro camera’ and the result seen here is very similar to a Polaroid peel-apart film transfer.

Soon I am going to talk about the way we capture, process and share our perceptions of the world (ever changing it seems these days) and the tools we use to capture images, get them into a form that everyone can view (ie in these days – digital) and how people can view them, access information on sites like this, farcebook, flickr and so on, especially relevant to me (and perhaps you) in the perspective of photography and blogging.

Even though I haven’t blogged about it this year due to laziness, family commitments, study, work, life, the universe & everything (and the dog ate my homework) – we have had a world toy camera day (well it was a whole weekend) this year and I did manage to take a few Holga and Polaroid Colorpack shots. Most were taken on Sunday the 10th October and most were taken in one of my favourite spots (when I am on that side of town) underneath the freeway, just near the Flemington Rd entrance, heading out of Melbourne towards the airport and beyond.
