Drifting a long way away from plastic lenses with this shot. It is taken with my latest camera, a Polaroid 110A that has been converted to take 4″ x 5″ sheet film by a talented man named Dean Jones, who luckily for me I met a few years ago at a Sunwrae concert and who works just a suburb away from me. This is a marvelous hand-held coupled rangefinder that shoots large format! The negatives from this camera are just incredible, I love shooting with it. That little white dot at the far left border of the image (near some seats) is, on examination of the full size scan of this negative, very obviously a seagull. The detail above the carpark & MacDonalds sign at right clearly shows individual wires on the roof of the shops behind. I’ll be posting an entry about this camera shortly in the words part of the plastic lens.

Camera: Razzle Polaroid 110B 4×5 conversion
    Film: Kodak 400NC sheet film
Developed in a Jobo Rotary Tube Processer in Jobo (Tetanal) C-41 Press Kit. Scanned on a Epson V700 scanner.

Here’s something a bit different for a change, eclectic subject matter, as seems to be my wont – I refuse to have my photography pigeon-holed!
This is a vertical dyptych of two Polaroid 500 shots, taken on a Polaroid ‘Vision’ camera (also sold as the Captiva), another folding SLR job from Mr Land’s stables before they went kaflooey. The film is colour film, but almost looks monochrome/sepia here due to it being a tad old (like me).
I still have a pack of 500 integral film (expired of course) left which I better put through the camera before the chemical pods in the film dry out (if they haven’t already)…oh well, not much more to say at the moment. Work is work, not too bad I suppose, but I really do hang out for my time off so I can make more photographs. Cheers all!

This image of the bridge at Caribbean Gardens, Melbourne had some weird colour shifts which I have determined to be a combination: of slightly hotter than recommended developer & blix bath, scanner peculiarities and my monitor calibration. I would have uploaded a colour-corrected version but people seem to like this so I shall leave it be. I have since developed a different version from another roll of film I shot this day that seems to have more accurate colour rendition but this first shot certainly has generated a bit of interest on flickr.

My brother gave me a box of old cameras, mainly old box-brownies, but in it was this cool box camera with the largest waist level finder I have seen in these kind of cameras ever.
It’s an Ensign Ful-Vue and what is more it takes 120 rolls nicely!
The settings are pretty simple and shutter speeds are ‘T’ (equivalent to ‘bulb’ setting on later cameras ie shutter open as long as you hold it down) & ‘I’ or instant (which in this case means 1/30th second)
When shooting my first roll, I had accidentally left the shutter on ‘T’ – Of course I didn’t realise my mistake until I had pulled the developed film out of the tank and examined it against the light. When using cameras such as this, with such limited options and controls, it is amazing how often I can make a basic mistake!
This shot is from the second roll of film, where I actually made sure I didn’t have the shutter set on ‘T’

Camera: Ensign Ful-Vue
Film: Ilford HP4 125
