In Two Minds

March 15, 2007

Well, yes, this is me. Hi!
The title refers to (beside the obvious visual pun) my current state of musing regarding the old adage "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" ~ Well, our old kitchen wasn't broken, but it certainly wasn't really optimal either. Indeed when we moved in to this place 6 years ago, the builder who inspected it before we put the bank's money down suggested it was very livable, but we "might want to do something about the kitchen" So my wife has been very patient (not being sexist here, it is a simple statement of fact that she spends more time in the kitchen, I'm frequently not home for evening meals due to shift work and she is the better cook by far anyway, trust me!)
So now we have a new kitchen. It's very nice. Having half a dozen strangers traipsing through your house for half the week and having stuff spread all over the place during the transition phase isn't all that comfortable though. The sparkies were in today to finish off the wiring, all well and good, but tonight when my daughter went to put on her nightlight, I discovered that half of the powerpoints in the place don't work. Ho-hum. Guess I'll just have to ring the sparkies again in the morning to fix whatever it is they did when they "fixed" the kitchen today.
Bum.
*addit 23/5/07: I am happy to say that the guest editor for Lightleaks Magazine Issue 6, Don Brice, chose the above portrait for inclusion in that issue's theme gallery "Me" thank you for the honour Don. I just received this particular issue yesterday, it's very nice!

The above image double exposed on the trusty Holga with Polaroid back attached, film: Polaroid 84.

Hi Angie! I often have my ear on my cheek, usually when I wake up in the morning and my face has been squished all together because my head is soooo heavy. What I like about this shot is that I can almost pretend to be contemporary with what appears to be very funky lip-piercing!
I have set a place for you too, this dinner party looks to be shaping up to be weirder than the mad hatter's!
