Angel Variations

June 6, 2007

A different view of the beautiful sculpture/mosaic known as Angel, the whole of which (well half, actually, given that I can only show one side at a time in a photo) can be seen here with a different point of view of part of the same here. I love this artwork and I love variations on a basic theme, they seem to work in music, so why not in photographs? When it comes to ten metre high mosaic sculptures, there's plenty of scope for different points of view and concentration on different details. So I chose to share some of my perspectives with you, I hope you don't mind. Better still, come to Melbourne and I'll show you this wonderful creation in full-on, non-virtual, real-life, three-dee personally! (You might even want to photograph it)

Thanks Phil, Andrew and Lisa.
Yep I'll need the higher speed film more and more in the coming months Phil, the days are just a bit too dull for 160 iso any more!
Andrew, the clouds opened up with a downpour soon after the shot was taken, so I suppose it was sort of underwater!
Lisa, the way these plastic cameras work with colour is probably what makes me tend towards using colour film rather than black and white in my shots, although black and white certainly has a place...

Yeah I have been missing color film lately, now that it's summer and there is color in my world again! I shot a whole roll the other day all excited to have some color pictures only to discover it was some off-brand of b&w film I had in there. Agh!
