Angel

March 14, 2007

Here is another photo taken at Birrarung Marr, only a short walk from the Federation Bells stands the sculpture Angel, right alongside the Yarra river. The ten metre high, three-legged Angel was installed along the river bank in 2006. The sculpture was initially commissioned from Melbourne mosaic artist Deborah Halpern for installation in the ‘moat’ in front of the National Gallery of Victoria in 1985, but off-loaded by the Gallery when major renovations were undertaken in 1999.
Standing below the sculpture, as the sun was setting behind me, I took this photo with the Diana F loaded with Fuji 160 NPC.

Thanks Angie. Yes and no however, I've seen some nice results with toy cameras and backlighting. I haven't managed to get any like that however!

I must admit I'm a backlight freak. Ya can't let those plassie cams have it too easy. I find the effect is to minimize surface details and emphasize the basic outlines- even to silhouette, which suits the low res of the lenses.

Yes, push the plastic envelope I say! You are particularly good at getting nice results doing that Don!
