The Big Drip

September 15, 2007

Simon Perry’s monumental dripping tap sculpture – On Tap – is situated on the southern side of Lake Caroline in the Caroline Springs housing development, west of Melbourne.
Yet another whimsical public art piece that I love this city for. I'm hoping to go there on a less overcast day so I might juxtapose this sculpture against some elements of blue sky eventually.

Haa! That's so great.
That it was taken on an overcast day actually works in it's favour, I think. It has a great subtle quality about it.

There's something about it which reminds me of photos taken of giant roadside attractions of the late 1950s... looks modern and retro simultaneously.

You do have the *best* public art there. I agree with Amy about the modern but retro look. Very cool :)
