The Head of a Tree Cow

September 13, 2007

Another point of view of the sculpture by Australian artist John Kelly which was inspired by a violent flood which swept cattle into trees in Gippsland, Victoria. On a personal "6 degrees of separation" note, when I was speaking to my brother Roger on the phone the other night he mentioned that the sculptor was a fellow student in his classes at R.M.I.T when he studied fine art there.
A diiferent view of Cow Up A Tree with optional stereo anaglyph version can be seen here

This photograph was taken with a Diana 151 camera (on "sunny" setting) and Kodak 160 VC film.

I must have snaps of that cow around somewhere. My memory of walking around it was that it's tough to photograph, and that from many angles the body just looks like a big misshapen box. It'd have been interesting to not let on what this is (except I know you've blogged the whole sculpture prev) and have people guess.
