Federation Bells ala Don Brice

September 6, 2007

Anyone who was fortunate enough to get a copy of the June issue of Black & White Photography may have noticed the featured portfolio photographer was Don Brice, a very talented fellow from Adelaide who also likes taking toy camera shots. The opening image of the feature happened to be a B & W shot of the Federation Bells taken at a rakish angle photographed with his "Shakey" Diana Clone. I was pretty pleased to see this image used, as I was there the day he took that shot. In actual fact, not to blow my trumpet too loudly, as I'm sure he would have discovered them eventually, it was I who introduced Don to these Bells, (my bio photo on the "about" page was taken by Don, with me holding my Diana in front of these Bells) You can see a more conventional POV shot in colour taken by me that day, with a little story, here.
When I was in town the other day, I remembered Don's refreshing take on these, so I tried to emulate his POV, only my shot is not B & W like his. Thanks Don!

Hah- cheers Cam
If I ever did shoot color, I'd like to think it would like almost as nice as this one of yours. Cool clouds too

Thanks people, and especially to you Don - at the risk of sounding sycophantic, your portfolio in B & W Photography was superb, I'm glad you like this particular version of the bells and yep, I was lucky with the clouds!
