Trials and Tributaries of a Leaf

June 17, 2007

A close-up pinhole shot of a leaf from the Paulownia Tree we have growing in our front yard.
Anyone who is familiar with these trees knows how large their leaves can get, enough to almost act as an umprella in the rain for the larger ones.
This shot was taken from 10cm above one of the medium size specimens that are currently coating our yard after making the jump from the mother-ship, I mean tree.
I love the way nature's patterns replicate themselves in so many examples from micro to macro. The kind of patterns seen above can be seen in circulatory sytems of both animals and plants (as in this photo) but can also be seen in geological features such as river deltas, erosion patterns and so on.
Holga Pinhole with Polaroid 89 packfilm, approx 90 second exposure under two bedside incandescent lights.

Thanks Phil, Otto - I kind of like it, must do some more pinhole work. Phil, I'm looking forward to seeing your pinhole photos when you get around to them!
