Lost Freeway
June 19, 2007Consequently the freeway was closed to traffic for over 24 hours whilst rescue and safety/mop-up operations where carried out. Normally, from this vantage point (from a bridge in the inner-city suburb of South Melbourne) the freeway would be either bustling with cars or resembling a parking lot (not an unusual occurence in peak times) so the desolate feel combined with the smoky light-leak here seemed quite apt, considering the circumstances of the day the image was snapped.

Thanks all, yes it was a shame considering the circumstances. The authorities have changed some things to improve safety through the tunnels now.
