Mr Striped Bib

October 4, 2007

Here is another photograph from the first Diana + roll. The young toddler is definitely on a mission here, just what only he could say, but I was surprised to be able to capture such a clear snap of such a busy subject. Children and animals, as the saying goes...but I've always enjoyed that challenge.
The reproduction of the original Diana's pecadilloes remain faithful in this reborn toy camera. Note the edge blurriness and vignetting, along with emulsion scrtches and in this particular roll, the interesting placement of the image right at the top of the film strip, so that we see (like some strange analogue news ticker) the film details, frame number and so forth, I'm not sure if this latter feature is because I didn't have the film reels placed correctly in the camera, or what. I don't mind, I always thought that feature of 35mm exposures in Holgas (for example) was cool. I am hoping to get a bit of time today to at least finish another roll of 120 and get it developed in the hope of continuing to be surprised (pleasantly) by this particular plastic camera. My life has been so busy lately between work and family (and I'm not complaining, honestly, at least not about my family, I love them) that I am looking forward to having a bit of a rest.

Camera: Diana +. Film: Fuji Pro 400H.

What a cutie. It did turn out very sharp, especially his face and hands. I like the lighting too.

Great photo! He looks so determined! I like the way the blue and white striped bib pops against the red brick.

made me smile, so that's good. i like the pleasantly retro urban feel the diana has brought this shot.

How about new Diana? A lens became sharp.

Excellent capture, Cameron. I too had the same high frame placement result with my first roll through the Diana+ (no mask).

Very cute shot. I love the lighting, a nice "old style" feel to it

It does have a distinctive quality. After seeing just a few shots from diana+ cameras I could tell right away that this picture came from that camera. Sweet little shot :)
