Nick and the Engine

July 27, 2007

Nick, a volunteer with the Puffing Billy railway, standing in front of the little green and red diesel shunter they use to move the railway cars around. I'm not sure if they really have to shunt them around so much, I have a feeling they might do it for fun. I probably would to, if I had a full scale train set to play with.
BTW, it's not your eyes, the photo does seem to be a bit more out of focus than I normally like (even though some degree of optical abberations are expected from toy cameras) I'm not sure if it was just me, not setting the distance scale quite right, or if the lens had a smudge of something on it, (I'm a messy eater as well as a messy photographer) as normally this particular Diana is quite crisp (for a Diana). I guess I won't know until I run another roll through it. So anyway, apologies for any eye discommfort caused by fuzziness. Despite that, I still wanted to include this shot on the site because I think Nick comes across as such a friendly character and it's interesting to see his working environment here...

Really charming photo - the personality of your subject really shines through. Beautiful colors, too!

as lisa said, charming. Nick looks like he put in a tough day as his uniform is quite dirty!

now you see how the rest of the diana-world operates! you received the only clear/sharp ones :-)

Thanks Lisa and Angie. I think Nick was quite happy in his job. Angie, I guess I have been lucky with my Dianas!
