Developer: Nova Pro-Speed 41 ‘Press Kit’ – two step C-41 process.
Time: 2:55 sec
Temperature: 39ºC
Agitating 15 sec initially then 5 sec every 30 sec and then 3 min blix, continuous agitation. Thorough wash (at least 5 changes of water in tank after 30 seconds agitation each time)

Developer: Rodinal
Dilution: 1:50
Temp: 20ºC
Time: 13 min
Method: Initial agitation 55 seconds then 10 seconds every two minutes.
60 sec Stop Bath (Kodak Indicator Stop Bath). 5 minutes Ilford Rapid Fixer. Ilford Wash Technique then Kodak Fotoflow for 30 sec.

A Round About Then

On a long road trip it is a good idea to have a break in the journey to stretch ones legs and in the case of children to have a play in a playground if you can find one. On a recent trip we found ourself in Sale and discovered such a spot that also had one of those old-fashioned playground round abouts which don’t seem to be around much anymore. We all had a ride on it, the kids especially loved it, and amazingly, no-one threw up (we were going round and round pretty fast!)

Umbrella Girls

Another colourful capture of my beautiful (if slightly bonkers) kids, sheltering from cosmic rays under a rainbow striped umbrella. Coming Down

I am contemplating facing possibly the hottest day in February in recorded weather statistics with my two young children whilst my wife goes off on a “Hen’s Weekend” (that’s right, the girls need a whole weekend to get rotten these days!) and ponder the irony that in the northern parts of Australia we have torrential rain and devastating floods, along with the fact that our friends in London have been snowed in…ummm, what am I trying to say? Perhaps that it’s all a bit bonkers…
Here is a photo taken with a Diana 151 (an original Diana from the 60′s). This shot won 1st prize in the adult photographic contest at the 2008 Pave Festival (Performing and Visual Arts in Emerald) which was very nice… btw the PAVE festival is coming around again, so if you are interested and live in Melbourne check out the link: Pave Festival

Taken earlier this week I’m sort of surprised this came out at all, as it was an overcast day and with 160 speed film in the camera I was being hopeful. Just goes to show!
A note on the composition of this shot ~ I would like to say that I carefully planned to have this shot as is, revealing just the legs anticipating a whole child whizzing down the slide (I love the plastic yellow of this slide) with the nicely blurred background revealing more children happily playing on the other playground equipment. I would like to, but the reality is that I am still getting used to the discrepancy between what I see in the viewfinder and what appears on the film with this particular camera! Having said that, if I did get what I thought I was getting I’m sure this image wouldn’t have been half as interesting! It’s all part of the fun of shooting with plastic fantastics!

Playground Swing Thing

Another of my first exposures using the newly released blackbird,fly from Superheadz, taken with 400 asa film on a partially overcast day. As you can see, the kids were having a great time at this playground, which is the kind of time that children should have as often as possible.
