Soon I am going to talk about the way we capture, process and share our perceptions of the world (ever changing it seems these days) and the tools we use to capture images, get them into a form that everyone can view (ie in these days – digital) and how people can view them, access information on sites like this, farcebook, flickr and so on, especially relevant to me (and perhaps you) in the perspective of photography and blogging.

Even though I haven’t blogged about it this year due to laziness, family commitments, study, work, life, the universe & everything (and the dog ate my homework) – we have had a world toy camera day (well it was a whole weekend) this year and I did manage to take a few Holga and Polaroid Colorpack shots. Most were taken on Sunday the 10th October and most were taken in one of my favourite spots (when I am on that side of town) underneath the freeway, just near the Flemington Rd entrance, heading out of Melbourne towards the airport and beyond.

Well, those of Christian beliefs do say he is everywhere, which kind of freaks me out if I think about it too deeply, but this particular shining example of the saviour I found in the Dandenong Trash & Treasure sidewalk market one day. This is yet another shot taken with the cool Waist level Finder Holgamods Holga, Randy really does do a great job with his Holgas.

This old clunker sat for ages in someone’s backyard near where we walk, along a dirt road next to a gently flowing creek. It sat next to another old mini in a similar state of decrepitude. Because these beauties sat at the back of a ‘bush block’ there were no fences as such, so I would whip out whatever camera I happened to be carrying at the time (never leave home without a camera!) and take a shot. Only last week we went past again only to see the rusting minis had been removed *sigh* so it goes…

I find blank signs quite appealing. Their random appearance on walls and billboards has an almost zen quality that invites quiet contemplation on the beauty of minimalism. (or maybe I’m just full of it!)

Method: Initial agitation 55 seconds then 10 seconds every two minutes.
60 sec Stop Bath (Kodak Indicator Stop Bath). 5 minutes Ilford Rapid Fixer. Ilford Wash Technique then Kodak Fotoflow for 30 sec.
